Perched atop Marina Bay Sands, LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar embodies the essence of elevated indulgence — offering sweeping city views paired with interiors that celebrate the richness of old-world Italian-American charm. Spanning 12,200 square feet, the design blends classic materiality with contemporary glamour, creating a seamless transition between intimate indoor dining and a vibrant rooftop lounge experience.
As the local interior architect, the design intent was to craft an atmosphere that feels both grand and grounded — layered with deep-toned woods, exposed brick, vintage-inspired lighting, and luxurious textures that anchor the space in timeless appeal. Whether settling into a plush booth or sipping cocktails by the skyline, guests are immersed in an environment that speaks to heritage, craft, and celebration.

The Bar as Theatre
LAVO’s centerpiece bar is more than a destination for drinks — it’s a stage set for spectacle and sociability. Anchored by a dramatic arc and framed in rich wood tones, the bar immediately draws guests into a scene of warmth, craft, and conviviality. Overhead, oversized red pleated pendant lights cascade from the ceiling like inverted velvet curtains, casting a golden hue that adds intimacy and drama to the space.
The material palette blends exposed brick, polished brass accents, and classic patterned tile flooring to evoke a timeless New York–meets–Italian bistro aesthetic. Behind the bar, a curated backlit display of spirits and decorative artifacts reinforces the sense of artisanal pride and luxurious hospitality. This is a space that invites lingering, storytelling, and celebration — where every detail is carefully choreographed to elevate the everyday ritual of gathering.
Sightlines are carefully managed to offer visual rhythm — from the curvature of the bar to the repetition of high stools, every element guides the eye with purpose. Wall-mounted globe sconces punctuate the brick backdrop, offering a gentle nod to old-world elegance while balancing the bar’s modern energy. The lighting scheme, layered and deliberate, fosters a mood that’s equally suited for lively conversation or intimate encounters.
At LAVO, the bar doesn’t just support the dining experience — it defines it. As the first impression and final memory for many guests, it functions as a social anchor and atmospheric signature. Through its blend of material richness, architectural drama, and refined comfort, the bar captures the essence of elevated dining rooted in timeless design.
Theatrical Warmth in Every Corner
Beyond the bar, LAVO’s main dining hall unfurls with a sense of grandeur wrapped in warmth. Elevated by a gently stepped layout, the space guides guests through zones of intimacy and energy — from velvet-clad banquettes to candlelit corner tables. Brick stairs and a subtle change in elevation lend a sense of procession, making the act of entering the space feel like a curated experience.
The ceiling becomes a canvas of gold, embossed with intricate pressed tin patterns that shimmer beneath ambient lighting. Framed by soft curves and bordered by timber beams, the ceiling gives the room its glowing crown — one that resonates with old-world glamour and celebratory indulgence. Art deco–inspired pendant lamps float overhead like glowing orbs, diffusing the light and softening the space.
Floral arrangements and lush greenery are layered throughout, evoking a lush garden dining experience within a rooftop enclosure. Paired with dark timber, burgundy velvet, and warm metal finishes, the interiors pay homage to traditional Italian hospitality while embracing the cosmopolitan boldness of its rooftop perch.
In every detail — from the curvature of custom booth seating to the ornate flooring and floral-accented focal points — the design expresses a belief in immersive storytelling.
